My local New Holland dealer has a used 4WD Kioti LB 1914 for sale. It has a loader, very good ag tires and and a trailer. It has 140 hours on it and except for some soft, sticking brakes pedals and dust from the yard, looks about new and runs good. He wants $8500 for it, and I need to know what people think about the tractor before considering a counter offer. Please share your expertise and opinion with me!

This model tractor, older version, had some commonality with the Kubota of the same size. My brother in-law has had one for some 13 year, but has not many more hours on it than the one you are looking at buying.
I think the price is fine they are selling this tractor new around 7500 with out loader or 10500 with loader. ....

The LB1914 is a current model - although rumors are it will be replaced next year(?) - and has, to my knowledge, nothing in common with any Kubota, old or new. With only 140 hours on it, it's probably no more than a couple of years old. I think new, they're going for around $9500, $12,500 with loader. ....

I forgot an important item...according to the conflicting and incomplete dating information on MachineryLink, the serial number on this tractor indicates it might be a 1990 or 1991 model. The key tag has the name of a local container nursery on it, so I assume that it was used to mix/load potting soil, and other 'round the nursery jobs...although that doesn't explain why they got rid of it. With this information, does it still seem like a good deal? MachineryLink also estimates the premium price at $5800 (minus the loader, which I would add $1500 for. Does a counter offer of $7300 -$7500 sound reasonable? ....

I just got a quote on a new 1914 last week. $11,950 with aggies and a Kioti factory loader. Plus $6400 for a Kioti Backhoe&subframe. $250 additional for industrial tires. They are overstock nationally on the 25 horse model and are offering special super low interest rates on that model. ....

There was some work done with Kubota. As Kioti started makeing tractors before Kubota it is hard to tell who was helping who or if one was copying the other. Japanese are famous for copying engines etc.
For example did you know the old Datsun 1600 engine was a copy of the MGA 1600 engine. The castings were such an exact that the odd bumps in the sand casts of the MGA are in the Nissan engine. The only difference is one spins left and the other right. The heads and other parts are interchangable.
Anyways the old small Kioti like my brother in-laws reportably has parts interchangable with the Kubota. I am not sure about the newer small tractors. This is definately not the case with the larger tractors.
Mark I think you can do a little better than that new. ....

Agreed, on the new thing, but I am still weighing options. But I think it was the 1200 cc engine that appeared in the 62-65 era Datsun Bluebird and PL 410 series. I just missed it. My 1966 PL 411 had a slightly larger (but no less plagiarized) 1300 cc engine. In the process they increased the horsepower from a miserly 60 to an incredible 67 HP.
Along the same lines……. The early Toyota Landcruiser engine was a licensed knock-off of the 235 straight six right out of the 55-56 Chevy. And the early Corona’s had a two speed automatic that was a scaled down power glide. My wife had a 69 model. The transmission was just about the only part of the car that didn’t give her any trouble.
Peters, It must be a sign of some sort. As I am typing this a whole pack of Kioti’s starting howling down by the road. Hmmmm……
....

I feel that is a decent price on a used kioti, but when you can get into a new one for just a bit more and have a warranty, why would you? We offer fair deals at Group Farm Equipment. For example: LB1914, R4 tires front loader for $10,500.00 picked up. Add $4,500.00 for the Frame mounted backhoe. We have deals like this throughout the whole line of Kioti tractors and we offer delivery anywhere. Email us for a Quote!! ....
